-
What genre or category of book would you love to work on?NF with strong narrative component (narrative journalism, memoir), books that need to move (horror, thriller, suspense), books that need character development to sing (magical realism, commercial and upmarket fiction)
-
What type of writer would you most love to coach?I would love to work with people with incredible life stories/influence who don't quite know where to start or how to put together an outline/proposal, people writing their first books that don't know where to start, people who are fighting perfectionism, procrastination, self-doubt, or past rejection (who need to get back to their deeper 'why')
-
What genre or category do you not want to work with?I am not the best fit for anything that has a large historical element, I'm also very selective about literary titles (it's not that I don't work with them, but I need to be a fan of the concept), I'll work on romance titles but prefer the titles be more on the upmarket side than straight genre/Harlequin style romance
-
What type of writer are you not a good match for?Anyone who doesn't believe in planning as part of the narrative process; to each their own, and I know many lovely authors who write beautifully flying by the seat of their pants, but that is not my strength and a certain openness to the planning process is crucial to gain something from my coaching.
-
Will working with you get me an agent? While having the most polished manuscript you can certainly helps your odds, there is no guarantee of getting an agent or offer of publication by engaging with my services (or any editor's services).
-
What happens if you want to represent me?To maintain ethical boundaries between my work as an agent and editor, I will not represent anyone I have accepted compensation from for editorial services. However, in the rare case that I edit a book that I wish to represent, you will be refunded for the editorial fees in full upon signing a contract with my agency. I will not represent anyone who I have offered coaching to.
-
What does a developmental assessment include?A developmental assessment focuses on the big picture: story, character, scene, pace and coherence. It will include a 5-7 page report on the strengths and weaknesses of the manuscript, with actionable feedback to take your writing to the next level. Finished manuscripts usual undergo multiple rounds of developmental editing, followed by a line edit (focused on style, sentence structure, meaning and flow), copyedit (focused on grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting), and lastly, proofreading (catches any remaining errors and formatting issues).
-
Do you offer any other types of editing? At this time, my passion is for developmental assessments and edits to help deepen character arcs and conflict in my clients' stories. However, I will sometimes do other types of edits (line, copy, and proofreading) for existing clients. This is something we can discuss further, but I do not currently guarantee these additional services.
-
Do you do speaking engagements?I'm always happy to do seminars or speaking engagements virtually or in-person (within a certain distance of my office). To discuss options and put together a custom package, please reach out to our team using the contact form below.

How does payment work?EDITORIAL Invoices will be sent through PayPal upon contract signing. Your spot is not secured until I have received the non-refundable deposit (50% of total package price) and I will not commence edits until the rest of the payment is received. I do not issue refunds once reading has begun, but if you are unhappy with your report for any reason, please contact us and we will do our best to make it right. COACHING Invoices will be sent through PayPal at the time of booking. They must be paid within 24 hours of scheduling to secure your meeting time or your appointment will be forfeited. Failure to pay without reason will result in a delinquent account and no further appointment or service bookings will be accepted from your account.
-
Do you offer refunds?EDITORIAL Because the majority of the fee covers my time spent reading your manuscript, refunds are not offered once edits have begun. Deposits are also non-refundable to ensure your commitment to this process. In the unlikely event that you are unsatisfied with your edits, please reach out to our team and we will do our best to resolve the issue. COACHING No refunds are offered for coaching sessions once booked because of the time it will take me to read your material and prepare in advance. Appointments that have not yet started and are more than 7 days away can be rescheduled without penalty. Failure to pay or repeat cancellations, however, will result in a delinquent account and no further appointment or service bookings will be accepted from your account.
